Mrs. Gardner

The elementary staff considers it a privilege to partner with the Christian home to prepare students to lead Christ-like lives through a biblical approach to education. We want to help students reach their potential academically as well as develop a biblical worldview who will make a difference for Christ as they go about their daily lives. We want to be an example of a follower of Christ in the classroom, at lunch, and on the playground.

Our students participate in a variety of service projects throughout the year as we look for opportunities to share Christ in a practical way. This is a natural development of our chapels, classroom devotions, prayer, Bible lessons, and Scripture memory.

God’s Word is the filter for what we teach in every subject area and as we help students make decisions throughout the day. The elementary theme for 2010-2011 is “Trusting God” based on Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Academically, our students participate in a strong phonics program in kindergarten and first grade. The emphasis changes in grades two – four to develop reading strategies, comprehension, and higher level thinking skills. Students will be writing for a variety of purposes and audiences as they develop the six traits of writing. We were blessed to receive the 2009 Blue Ribbon School Award from the U.S. Department of Education based on the Stanford Achievement Test scores in reading and math. We will continue to look for ways to provide an excellent education as we serve the Lord at Peoria Christian School.

Trusting Him,

Becky Gardner
