In March of this year, our PCS France Team of nine students spent one week in the Alsace region of France assisting with several different ministries under the direction of David & Angela Leigh including the Christian School Collège Daniel. We stayed at the home of Richard Duarte (YWAM missionary) which is also used as a retreat center.
During this time, we did several activities with missionaries, helped to sort clothes for the church homeless ministry, particpated in English classes at College Daniel, ministered with mimes, music and puppets at College Daniel, spent time with pen pals and participated in English classes at Lycée Kastler.
We then went to Paris where we participated with their mimes in the services at the Rue Myrah L’Eglise du Nazaréan and prayer walked in two outdoor markets. We visited several tourist sites such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre, Sacre Coeur, Notre Dame, the Centre Pompidou, Louvre and Versailles.
We try to take as many native French people as we can to each of these sites in order to get to know them better. Each student was expected to keep a journal of activities, create a story board, write a report about one historical monument and learn some historical facts about each place we visited.
Our trip cost $2,400 per person this year. Next year we may be able to stay with Christian families in Paris which would decrease the cost.
