Education at PCS is distinct because we commit to prepare our young people for life from a biblical worldview. We promote an understanding of the truth of God’s Word, and we are committed to train young people to be discerners of the truth and incarnational models of the truth. We also promote an understanding of and obedience to the task of God. This means we are committed to training young people for the Great Commission. We desire to enroll, equip, and invigorate a new generation of men and women with a Great Commission calling, urgency, and orientation. We are committed to develop godly men and women who desire to serve His cause in the roles that develop in their lives.
Education at PCS is distinct because we commit to spiritual formation in the lives of our staff and students. We strive to ensure that our entire educational program is Bible-centered. We are committed to mastery of the Word and mastery by the Word. All aspects of our program submit to examination under the authority of Scripture. We are committed to biblical integration. We recognize that we as staff constitute the key to re-invigorating the conscious integration of biblical truth throughout the curricula so that it is saturated with biblical relevancy. We refuse to evacuate biblical thinking from our curricula or relegate it to the Bible department.
Education at PCS is distinct because we provide for Christian character development. We are committed to promoting a relational-community concept. We add heavy doses of mentoring, assessment, community, accountability, support, and counsel. We also are committed to uphold biblical standards so that these standards can foster in our staff and students, the development of Christian character. We are not willing to settle for behavior modification. We recognize the importance of maintaining fidelity to biblical standards, but only as a means to and expression of holiness, and not as the essence of holiness. We believe standards can best be personalized and transferred in a relational community committed to holiness. In addition, we are committed to designing staff and student development programs that will equip us with biblical understanding, skill, and determination to implement biblical virtues, habits, and standards in every context of life and ministry.
Education at PCS is distinct because we promote practical ministry involvement. We are committed to emphasizing active engagement in the practice of ministry. We constantly reassert this distinctive by continually re-conceiving its place and function in the educational process, and re-investing in its excellence. We are committed to making ministry practice meaningful and consequential by initiating and maintaining an active program of supervised ministry experience. Our efforts are developmental. This involves taking students and staff from where they are in maturity and ministry experience and exposing them to a variety of new ministry settings and strategies. This provides opportunities and means for students and staff to explore, identify, and refine natural talents and spiritual gifts.
Education at PCS is distinct because we promote biblical leadership. We are committed to develop leadership that is not elitist or self-serving, but humble, caring, and open to correction as much as to approval. We recognize that authority within our school resides in the Lord and His Word, not in human leadership or hierarchy. We also recognize that submission to leadership is necessary not because their authority is intrinsic or absolute, but because leaders are accountable to God for those under their care (Hebrews 13:17). We believe our submission to human authority is an expression of submission to Divine authority. We strive to develop leadership that is eager, service-oriented, and exemplary, but never domineering (1 Peter 5:2-3). We are committed to modeling biblical leadership. Competent, visionary, biblical leadership is needed in our Christian culture. Modeling is crucial for credibility and to demonstrate that biblical leadership is possible. We recognize the necessity of modeling biblical leadership in order to attract respect and trust.
Education at PCS is distinct because we promote critical thinking. We are committed to directing our energies toward equipping staff and students with rational means of discovering and testing truth in biblical revelation and creation without fear of compromising. We can forgo the acceptance of men, but we cannot compromise commitment to God, to His revelation in the Bible, or to the mission He has committed us to. We are committed to take up a fearless, rigorous application of biblically anchored, rational and critical processes in all the academic and physical disciplines. We view this gaining of knowledge as a means to Christian growth, and not as an end in itself.
Our staff is passionate about these distinctives. These are what set us apart. They are what drive us. You have chosen PCS for your children. Your commitment to these distinctives will help us make excellence a reality.
