Peoria Christian Preschool-3- & 4-Year-Old Programs
Children are given opportunities to form a solid foundation academically in reading and math readiness, as well as, acquire fine and gross motor skills. Character development and spiritual growth are important goals of our preschool program.
Activities
Children participate in a variety of activities during the day, such as pledges, singing, group time, and individual activities that build motor skills. Our updated playground will delight them as their gross motor skills develop. They strengthen fine motor skills through coloring, cutting, gluing, painting, puzzles, water and sand tables, and games. Children also grow socially and emotionally by practicing good manners, sharing toys, helping in the classroom, and obeying the teacher. Art, music, physical education, library, and field trips are also used to encourage learning experiences.
Curriculum
We use a theme-based approach involving circle time and learning centers. Our 4-year-old classes identify the letters of the alphabet and are introduced to the sounds of the letters. The children hear a Bible story and learn a Bible verse each week. They identify numbers 1-20, count objects using one-to-one correspondence, and identify shapes.
Staff
The teachers in our program maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We guide and direct the children out of a prayerful heart of love and concern. Our certified teachers plan fun, age-appropriate activities to help the children have a positive experience at school. Our 3- and 4-year-old class size is limited to a staff-to-student ratio of 1:10 or 2:20.
Requirements
Children must be three years old or four years old, respectively, by September 1st to be enrolled in the 3-year-old or 4-year-old class.
Children must be completely toilet trained. A physical examination, as mandated by the State of Illinois, is required for each child prior to attendance.
