Question: Who are the members of the Peoria Christian School Association?

ARTICLE IV - MEMBERSHIP

Sec. 1 – Membership of the Association shall be comprised of those who meet the following requirements:

A. All parents or guardians of children currently attending Peoria Christian School. However, only those parents or guardians who are current with their tuition within thirty (30) days of the record date established by the Bylaws shall be entitled to vote, each having one vote.

B. All parents or guardians of graduates of Peoria Christian School, and Peoria Christian School alumni, who (1) are eighteen (18) years of age or older and (2) have made contributions of at least One-Hundred Dollars ($100.00) to Peoria Christian School within the previous twelve (12) months prior to the record date established by the Bylaws are members and shall be entitled to vote, each having one vote.

C. The Superintendent, principal(s), teachers, and other employed personnel of Peoria Christian School, and their spouses, if any, who are under current contract with Peoria Christian School and who are current with their tuition, if applicable, within thirty (30) days of the record date established by the Bylaws are members and shall be entitled to vote, each having one vote.

Question: Who can be on the Peoria Christian School Board of Directors?

ARTICLE V - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Sec. 1 – Agreement of Board of Directors.

All members of the Board of Directors shall be born-again believers and shall agree without reservation with Articles I and II of the Bylaws. Further, they shall be members in good standing of a local, evangelical church whose doctrine is in agreement with Article II of the Bylaws.

Sec. 4 - Board Member Qualifications.

A. Members of the Board of Directors shall be born-again believers and subscribe without reservation to the school’s Statement of Faith and Philosophy of Education. He must meet the qualifications for leadership established in 1 Timothy 3.

B. Members of the Board of Directors shall be Christian role models in the school and community.

C. Members of the Board of Directors must be current members of the Association.

D. Members of the Board of Directors must be active in an evangelical Bible-believing church

E. Members of the Board of Directors must have all of their children enrolled in Peoria Christian School as full-time students or another school approved by the Board. Board approval shall be granted only in special circumstances.

F. No employee or spouse of any employee shall be eligible to serve on the Board with the exception of the Superintendent and Principal(s) who shall be advisory members of the Board of Directors with no voting power.

Question: Is there a mechanism within the bylaws to make a change to the bylaw, and if so, how does a bylaw change occur?tors?

ARTICLE XVII - AMENDMENTS OF THE BYLAWS.

Sec. 1 –

These Bylaws may be amended only by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the current membership of the Association as defined in these Bylaws who vote on the amendment(s) at a business meeting to be called within sixty (60) days after the amendment(s) has been proposed at a previous meeting. A proposal to consider an amendment to the Bylaws can be made either by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the full Board or by having a petition signed by at least twenty percent (20%) of the current membership as defined in the Bylaws and submitted to the President of the Board. A special meeting to consider this proposal shall be called by the President of the Board within sixty (60) days. A copy of the proposed amendment(s) shall be sent to all Association members together with notice of the special meeting not less than twenty-one (21) days prior to the meeting.

Sec. 2 -

Changes to Article I or Article II require a three-fourths (3/4) vote of the members.

Question: How can someone become a part of the Peoria Christian School board of directors?

ARTICLE VI - NEW BOARD MEMBERS.

Sec. 2 – New Board Members

A. Candidates for the Board of Directors may be nominated by the members of the Association. Association members may recommend candidates to the Nominating Committee by submitting the name to the President of the Board or his designee for consideration by the Nominating Committee.

B. Such candidates must complete an applicable application and be interviewed prior to approval for submission to the Association members for a vote to determine interest, suitability, and eligibility. All candidates shall meet the qualifications of Board members as set forth in these Bylaws.

C. A Nominating Committee, appointed by the President of the Board of Directors, shall present nominees for the Board to the full Board for ratification. The Nominating Committee shall be made up of at least three members including the President of the Board and one Board Director. Non board members may serve on the Nominating Committee if so appointed by the President of the Board of Directors.

D. The Board of Directors shall present the nominees to the Association at the annual meeting for approval by vote.

E. No nominations may be accepted from the floor at the annual meeting of the Association. Any candidate not approved by the Board will be advised by the Board as to the reason for non-approval. Approval of nominees under this Section shall be withheld only for those nominees who do not meet the qualifications of Board members set forth in the Bylaws. The candidate has the right to appeal the decision in person, before the Board after which the Board must take a final vote requiring two-thirds (2/3) vote of the full Board for non-approval.
